Our next community meeting for BBQ67/27 will take place this coming Wednesday (9th September, 12.30-2.30pm). If you would like to join us please email us at pastpresentpossible@outlook.com or just come along to The Parish Church of St Mary and St Nicolas, Church Gate, Spalding, Lincolnshire, PE11 2RA

At this meeting, we'll begin shaping the Barbeque 67/27 festival programme. If you're considering organising an event, we'd love you to come prepared to give a two-minute pitch which covers things like:

  • What is your event?
  • Who will be hosting/organising it?
  • Where will it happen? Do you have a venue? What is its capacity?
  • When will it happen? (Please give us options of dates where possible)
  • Who is it for? Is it aimed at children, families, adults, specific communities etc?
  • How much do you intend to charge for tickets?
  • If entry to your event is free of charge, do you intend to apply for the Creative Community Fund? How much financial help do you think you might you need?
  • What else might you need help with – volunteers, venue, equipment, materials, expertise, guidance, etc?

Please note that these pitches are informal. If you haven’t got an answer for all of the questions, that’s fine. We just want to get an idea of what might be happening at Barbeque 67/27. If you’d like us to deliver your pitch for you whether you can attend or not, please email us with the details of your event (or provide us with a printed copy of them before we start) and we’ll make sure that they are shared during the meeting.

We'll begin bringing everyone's ideas together into a draft festival calendar, helping us to identify opportunities for collaboration and create a balanced programme of events across the festival.

We are also really excited to welcome author and researcher, Nettie Baker, to Spalding. As the daughter of Ginger Baker, Cream’s legendary drummer, Nettie has many stories to share.

This is the proposed agenda for the 9th September:

  1. Welcome and apologies
  2. Guest speaker (and short Q&A) - Nettie Baker
  3. Past Present Possible - summary of progress and festival overview
  4. Planning for 1 - 31 May 2027 events activities
    1. 2-minute pitches from businesses and organisations
    2. Matching up venues with events and activities
    3. Barbeque 67/27 calendar provisional planning
    4. Next steps
  5. AOB/questions etc
  6. Networking

As there are no facilities for us to provide refreshments in the main church building, please feel free to bring your own.
